About Louisa Swaden
The Existential Biker
I used to believe the road ahead was fixed. It isn’t.
I’m Louisa Swaden—rider, writer, land speed record holder, and the voice behind The Existential Biker. I explore what it means to live fully, courageously, and consciously—often at 100+ mph on sand, and just as often in the stillness of reflection.
Existentialism teaches that we are free agents. We create meaning through our choices. For me, riding became the rawest expression of that truth. It stripped away fear, revealed my values, and reconnected me with who I really am.
Since saying yes to the unknown, I’ve raced at Bonneville, toured across continents, spoken on stage, and written stories that echo far beyond the page. I now hold four land speed records—including becoming the fastest woman ever to ride a motorcycle on sand.
But this isn’t a story about speed. It’s about freedom. About facing fear head-on, dismantling the social self, and returning to the essential self—who you are beneath the layers you were taught to wear.
The Existential Biker exists to share that journey. Here, you’ll find riding stories, philosophical insights, real talk about fear and change, and the occasional face-plant—because falling is part of the ride too.
As Hamlet put it: “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
I say: where you look is where you go.
